“Mind And Heart”
December 24, 2022
By Kimmy Foulds
Celebrating Advent is a graceful, grateful and inspiring Christian traditional season to prepare mind and heart for Christmas as the most important birthday miracle in history that affects individual eternity.
Beautiful Advent is throughout the holiday month of December to symbolize the birth of Jesus Christ with the circular wreath to indicate everlasting life and unending love.
There are four candles placed around the miraculous wreath to represent the four weeks of Advent to be lit each of the four Sundays before Christmas with the fifth candle to be lit on Christmas Eve.
Each candle dignifies a function of forethought for Christmas.
Three of the candles are purple because the color violet is a liturgical color that signifies a time of prayer, penance and sacrifice with meanings of hope, peace and love.
The pink or rose candle reveals joy and is also a liturgical color.
The purple candles are lit on the first, second and fourth Sundays of Advent. The pink or rose candle is lit on the third Sunday.
Lastly, there is the fifth significant white candle known as the purity candle in the center that is lit on Christmas Eve to celebrate the miracle birth of Jesus Christ the precious sinless Savior.
Before lighting the candles for the first time around the Advent wreath, there is a blessing to be proclaimed upon the Advent wreath to reflect light and faith per biblical scriptures as reference in the bible throughout the Chapter of Isaiah.
“Lord God, let your blessing come upon us as we light the candles of this wreath. May the wreath and its light be a sign of Christ’s promise to bring us salvation. May he come quickly and not delay. We ask this through Christ our Lord.”
Reflect, from sunrise to sunset.
